Dr. Grinstead At Laurel Ridge Treatment Center In San Antonio Texas

This week I’ve been conducting an intensive Addiction-Free Pain Management® Certification Training for the Laurel Ridge Treatment Center’s Staff. Seven Strategic Steps Towards Effective Chronic Pain Management

Below are seven strategic steps that I believe are necessary for people undergoing chronic pain management to learn in order to overcome obstacles for obtaining appropriate and effective chronic pain management. The rational and more in depth explanation for each of the following steps can be found in my book Managing Pain and Coexisting Disorders: Using the Addiction-Free Pain Management® System. Please watch m y video below and then read the remainder of my post.

Dr. Grinstead’s Formula for Success in Chronic Pain Management

People living with chronic pain and coexisting disorders, including addiction, have many obstacles that often make helping them very challenging. Many of these people have tremendous amounts of grief and loss as well as other problems that lower their quality of life. Some of the other major roadblocks are the patients’ high levels of denial and resistance to treatment. Please watch my Video Blog Below and then read the remainder of my post.

Dr. Grinstead Training Advocate Addiction Treatment Staff In Relapse Prevention

The past two days I’ve been conducting an intensive relapse prevention skills training for selected staff at Advocate Addiction Treatment Program. On day one I introduced the concept of starting recovery with relapse prevention and starting relapse prevention with denial management. The staff were very excited and we broke into discussion groups frequently throughout the two days to brainstorm how this new information could be integrated into their current treatment program. Check out my video below and then read the remainder of this post.

Understanding People Suffering With Chronic Pain And Coexisting Disorders

This past year I’ve been helping several agencies implement my Addiction-Free Pain Management® System into their programing. The past several years have led to more and more people understanding that the prescription pain medication problem is really spiraling out of control. There are many reasons for this but a big one I’m concerned about is people living with chronic pain not receiving appropriate treatment interventions and end up with a substance abuse problem as a result. Please watch my Video Blog below and then read the remainder of this post.

Dr. Grinstead On Community Bridges Inc. Treatment Center In Arizona

Today I want to share my amazing trip to Arizona last week. Community Bridges Inc. (CBI) is a program that covers most of the state of Arizona. CBI is in the process of becoming a Gorski-CENAPS® Center of Excellence and also an Addiction-Free Pain Management® Center of Excellence. Last week I conducted a 44 hour advanced training in Relapse Prevention Therapy Certification. Please check out my video below and then read the remainder of my post.

Chronic Pain, Addiction And Trauma - The Troubling Trifecta

Since 1984 I’ve worked with many chronic pain patients who also were experiencing an addictive disorder and an unresolved trauma history. It takes an integrated multidisciplinary approach to obtain a favorable treatment outcome. Please watch my video below and then read the remainder of this post. Please share this information with people who can benefit.

Valley Forge Medical Center - Addiction-Free Pain Management® Center of Excellence

This past week I’ve been in Norristown Pennsylvania at the Valley Forge Medical Center’s (VFMC) Addiction-Free Pain Management® Center of Excellence program. At VFMC they help people living with chronic pain who were very frustrated when they weren’t receiving the pain relief they want and deserve and unfortunately many turned to continuously increasing doses of pain medications. Unfortunately these people often used the wrong type or too much medication and sometimes it worked but more often it made the problem worse in the long run. Please watch my Video Blog below and then read the remainder of my post.

The Addiction-Free Pain Management® System – A Synergistic Treatment Approach

When someone is living with chronic pain, they can get very frustrated when they aren’t receiving the pain relief they want and deserve. I know because when I experience a pain flare up, I just want the pain to stop—now! Unfortunately they usually often use only medication management and sometimes it works but sometimes it makes the problem worse for the long run. Please watch my Video Blog below and then read the remainder of my post.

Drug Seeking Behavior Comments Are Stigmatizing Chronic Pain Patients

Last year I recorded a Video Blog titled Stop Calling It Drug Seeking Behavior that has generated a lot of interest and comments. This past weekend I had another inquiry and call for help from someone who was on receiving end of this horrible stigma and it led me to re-posting this Video Blog below and re-introducing this topic on the remainder of this Freedom From Suffering NOW Blog. Please view my original Video Blog below and then read the remainder of this post.

Dr. Grinstead On The Role of Antidepressants For Effecitve Chronic Pain Management

Many people with chronic pain disorders become clinically depressed and a medication intervention may be necessary depending upon an assessment of their problem. The Addiction-Free Pain Management® System suggests that a full biopsychosocial evaluation be taken to determine the type and severity of the depression. Please watch my Video Blog below and then read the remainder of this post.

The Addiction Pain Syndrome™ — The Synergistic Impact when Chronic Pain and Addiction Meet

I’ve been working with people with chronic pain and coexisting problems, including addiction, since 1984. I have found this to be both very challenging and very rewarding. When I started working with Terry Gorski he mentored me and encouraged me to develop the Addiction-Free Pain Management® System. My first challenge was to educate others in what I had been doing well for the past decade. Please check out my Video Blog below and then read the remainder of my post on the synergistic impact of chronic pain and addiction.
